A $151K Wealth Gap Every Generation

The typical Hispanic family has $20K in net worth. White families have $171K. Financial education closes this.

The solution exists. It just hasn't been built yet.

Until Avanza. Spanish-first. Gamified. Built for real life.

Our Story

Financial freedom shouldn't depend on what language you speak.

Only 39% of Hispanic Americans are financially literate, a systemic gap, not a personal one. Avanza was built to close it.

Mission Statement
"To close the financial literacy gap for Latino Gen Z by delivering culturally authentic, Spanish-first financial education, gamified, accessible, and built around real community needs. Open to everyone. Built for us first."

Mission

Close the 39% financial literacy gap for Hispanic Americans through Spanish-first, gamified education that meets people where they are, culturally, linguistically, and economically.

Vision

A world where the 39% becomes 100%. Where the $151K wealth gap closes. Where language is never again a barrier to financial freedom for Latino families everywhere.

Values

Authenticity, built for the community, not at it. Accessibility, zero barrier to entry. Practicality, every lesson is usable this week. Community, we grow familia por familia.

Why Avanza exists.

Every major financial app was designed for the same person: an English-speaking, middle-income American who already has a bank account and parents who talked about money at dinner.

That person is not the Latino teen whose parents send remittances every month. It's not the first-generation student who's never heard of credit utilization. It's not the family targeted by payday lenders because nobody taught them to say no.

Avanza was built for them. And for everyone who deserves financial education that actually speaks to their real life.

🌱 Culturally Authentic

Every lesson written with the community, not for it. Born there.

🗣️ Spanish-First

Spanish is the primary language. Not a translation layer. English is the toggle.

🌍 Open to Everyone

Latino Gen Z is our primary focus. But financial literacy is universal. Avanza welcomes all ages and backgrounds.

Radically Practical

No theory. No jargon. Every lesson teaches a skill you can use this week.

💳 Credit

What is a credit score?

Tu score de crédito, entendido.

Your credit score is a number between 300 and 850. It tells banks how reliably you repay borrowed money. Higher score = more doors open: better apartments, lower interest rates, more financial freedom.

Cultural note: Many Latino immigrants arrive with strong credit history from their home country, but it doesn't transfer to the US. You start at zero. That is completely normal. Only 39% of Hispanic Americans are financially literate (P-Fin Index 2025). This lesson is the first step to changing that.

📊 5 Factors

Your score isn't random. It comes from 5 specific factors, know them and you can improve on purpose.

35%
Payment History

30%
Credit Utilization

How much of your limit are you using? Keep it under 30%.

15%
Length of History

Longer credit history = better score.

10%
Credit Mix

Cards and loans, diversity helps.

10%
New Credit

Applying for too much at once temporarily hurts.
